Commuting Solutions Awarded Excellence in Advocacy Award by the
Association for Commuter Transportation
Louisville, CO – Commuting Solutions was awarded the Excellence in Advocacy Award for
Transportation Matters by the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT), which
recognizes and honors outstanding achievements in transportation demand management
(TDM). Over 80 nominations were received in 15 categories for this year’s annual awards,
which were presented this morning on the final day of ACT’s International Conference in
Anaheim, CA.

In Spring 2018, Commuting Solutions, in partnership with a broad coalition of public and private
sector stakeholders, launched Transportation Matters, an initiative designed to ensure essential
funding and the vision for the Northwest Metro Region’s multimodal future becomes a reality. In
partnership with the US 36 Mayors & Commissioners Coalition, local chambers of commerce
and city officials, Commuting Solutions hosted six town hall meetings in communities throughout
the region. The town halls provided an opportunity for business leaders to take a closer look at
the state’s current transportation funding shortfalls and identified transportation needs for the
region.

“Organizations like Commuting Solutions are leading efforts within their local communities and
nationally that aim to improve the quality of life of commuters, improve the livability of
communities, and support economic growth,” said David Straus, Executive Director of ACT. “It
is a great achievement to be selected by your peers and we applaud all of your achievements.”
“We would like to thank ACT for recognizing our advocacy efforts during the ACT conference
this year. Transportation Matters gathered private and public-sector stakeholders to begin
addressing the widening gap between available public revenues and the cost of needed
regional transportation public revenues. We would not have been able to start this conversation
without our partners, the US 36 Mayors & Commissioners Coalition, local chambers of
commerce and city officials,” said Audrey DeBarros Executive Director of Commuting Solutions.
