CO 119 Safety and Mobility Improvements Project

An update from our partners at CDOT: Safely Connecting Communities with Equitable, Sustainable, and Reliable Transit & Mobility

CO 119 Safety and Mobility Improvements Project Spring 2023 Update

The CO 119 Safety and Mobility Improvements Project, a joint project between CDOT and RTD, is designing improvements to make traveling through the corridor safer for all modes and transit travel faster and more reliable. The project is designed to integrate with other active multimodal projects on the corridor to ensure community members can safely and reliably travel throughout the corridor using their mode(s) of choice. Funding continues to be secured for implementation of the CO 119 Safety and Mobility Improvements Project, which is expected to go to bid for construction by the end of 2023. Construction would then start sometime in 2024.

1041 permit

  • The 1041 permit application was submitted in December 2022 with a Boulder County Planning Commission Public Hearing Notice in March 2023. Next steps include a presentation to Boulder County Board of County Commissioners on April 20, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. (public notice). The permit is required before construction can begin, visit 1041 Permit to learn more.

2023 RAISE Grant

  • CO 119 corridor partners applied for $25M to the USDOT for a Federal Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant, which includes a request for funding to implement roadway improvements at CO 119 and Hover Street. Of the $124M needed for the entire project, 80% (or $99M) has already been acquired. The RAISE grant would provide the remaining funding piece necessary to implement this critical infrastructure project. Visit RAISE grant to learn more.

As of this grant submittal, preliminary design is complete and final design is in progress.

Construction Delivery Method

  • The construction delivery method for CO 119 is a Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) contract, which will allow for funding to continue to be pursued and incorporated while maintaining agency input with stakeholders and partners along the way.
